Asterr Terms of Service

These Terms govern your access to and use of Asterr (“we”, “us”, “Service”), including chat rooms, servers, public server chat, profiles, and membership features.

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using Asterr, you agree to these Terms and any referenced policies. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

If you use Asterr on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Eligibility & Age

You must be at least 13 years old to use Asterr. Where local law requires a higher age (or parental consent), you must meet those requirements.

3. Accounts & Handles

3.1 Account responsibility

  • You are responsible for your account activity and for keeping credentials secure.
  • You may not sell, buy, rent, or transfer accounts without permission.
  • We may require verification steps to prevent spam, bots, or abuse.

3.2 Handle rules

Handles must be unique. Asterr Handles may allow limited special characters such as _, ., and -, and may include numbers and letters.

Handle enforcement & reclamation Read
  • We may reject handles that impersonate others, mislead users, or violate rights.
  • We may reclaim or change handles to resolve legal claims, safety issues, or technical constraints.

4. User Content

“User Content” includes messages, room titles, posts, profile info, media, files, and any content you submit. You retain ownership of your User Content.

4.1 License to operate the Service

You grant Asterr a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, store, reproduce, and display User Content only as needed to operate, provide, and improve the Service (e.g., showing messages to participants, syncing across devices, safety review, spam prevention).

4.2 Content standards

  • No illegal content, non-consensual content, or sexual content involving minors.
  • No harassment, threats, hate, or targeted abuse.
  • No malware, phishing, or attempts to break or exploit the Service.
  • No spam, automated abuse, or deceptive engagement manipulation.
Uploads (photos/files) and storage limits Read

Asterr may apply file type restrictions, size limits, scanning, and rate limits to protect users and systems.

5. Chat Rooms

Asterr allows users to create chat rooms with optional customization and tools. Room availability and features may vary over time.

5.1 Room features

  • Room password / join gate (when enabled by host)
  • Room customization (background/colors/icons)
  • Emoticons, media/file uploads
  • Optional features may include voice chat/video call, voting systems, countdowns, and minigames

5.2 Host and admin tools

Room hosts/admins may set rules and may use tools such as announcements, keyword filters, and quick enforcement actions (mute/ban/rate limits) to keep their room safe and functional.

Room tags and discovery Read

Rooms may support tags (e.g., topic/language/region). Discovery and ranking may consider participation, activity, and user preferences.

6. Servers & Public “Server Chat”

Asterr includes a server-navigation layer where users can move between servers. Each server may have its own public “Server Chat” panel, and each server may enforce capacity limits.

6.1 Server Chat rules

  • Server Chat is public within that server context; do not share sensitive personal information.
  • We may apply rate limits and spam protection to reduce abuse.
  • We may apply default posting delays in Server Chat; membership may reduce delay where available.

6.2 “Megaphone” paid highlighting

Asterr may offer paid message highlighting in Server Chat (e.g., color/size emphasis and temporary pinning). If offered, we may set limits (duration, frequency, eligibility) to keep the chat usable and fair.

Anti-spam & quality controls Read
  • We may downrank repetitive messages or links and limit excessive posting.
  • We may remove messages that trigger safety filters or violate rules.

7. Safety & Moderation

Asterr may use automated systems and human review to enforce safety. We may remove content or restrict accounts to protect users, comply with law, and maintain service integrity.

7.1 Automated filtering

We may automatically filter or restrict content for categories such as harassment, hate, sexual content, spam, violent threats, advertising links, and other risky patterns.

7.2 Enforcement actions

  • Warnings, content removal
  • Temporary limits (rate limiting, chat restrictions)
  • Mute / suspension / permanent ban
  • Room-level actions by hosts/admins within their scope
Reporting and appeals Read

Where available, you may report violations. We may provide an appeal process for certain enforcement actions, but we are not required to restore any account or content.

8. Membership (Asterr+)

Asterr may offer paid membership that affects UI and discovery features. Membership benefits may change as the Service evolves.

8.1 Example benefits (if offered)

  • Shiny profile outline / badge
  • Priority placement (e.g., VIP rooms pinned higher)
  • Reduced Server Chat delay
  • Special emoticons/badges, themes/skins
  • Priority exposure in friend lists and personal stats/insights
Membership does not grant immunity from moderation. Rule violations can still result in restrictions or termination.

9. Payments

If you purchase paid features, you agree to pay applicable fees and taxes. We may use third-party payment providers. Refundability may depend on the product, local law, and the payment provider’s policies.

Chargebacks and fraud Read

Fraudulent transactions or abusive chargebacks may result in account restrictions and loss of access to paid features.

10. Intellectual Property & Brand

Asterr’s software, UI, branding, logos, and design are protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or reverse engineer Asterr except where permitted by law.

11. Third-Party Services

Asterr may rely on third-party services for hosting, authentication, analytics, payments, and storage. Third-party terms and policies may apply to your use of those services.

12. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not guarantee that the Service will always be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Asterr will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising from your use of the Service.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post changes on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continuing to use Asterr after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
